Aereo is launching in Utah in August, ahead of a planned launch in Chicago in September. The company is expanding fast despite facing litigation.

Aereo, the service that lets users watch live TV online and on mobile devices and save shows to a personal DVR, will launch in Utah on August 19, the company announced Monday.

Aereo is already available in New York, Boston and Atlanta. It is also launching in Chicago on September 13 and and has said it plans to roll out to 22 cities this year. The service costs $8 per month to store 20 hours of programming and $12 per month to store 60 hours of programming.

Aereo says the service will be available in all of Utah’s 29 counties, reaching its 2.8 million citizens.

Aereo is facing opposition from TV networks like Fox and CBS, but a New York appeals court recently upheld a ruling to allow it to keep streaming in New York. At the paidContent Live conference in April, Aereo CEO Chet Kanojia said the company may soon launch a movie channel and a free news channel. Below, check out the video of Kanojia’s interview with our Janko Roettgers.
