Photo import and backup gets easier with a new app for the Pixel while buying a mid-range Chromebook gets a bit harder. Our extension of the week provides better search history and we share a fix for screenshot errors on this week’s Chrome podcast.

Chromebook Pixel owners finally get the long-awaited Photos app; will it get more people to use Google Plus as a primary photo storage and sharing hub? We debate that question and then express concern that Samsung doesn’t have a mid-range Chromebook to offer any more. Opera browser fans will be happy with the move to Blink as Chrome extensions are supported — if you know how to install them.

Kevin has some fun playing PacMan in the browser thanks to a Gameboy emulator and explains why the partial screengrab function sometimes doesn’t work quite right in Chrome OS. Don’t forget our extension of the week!

One thing I’d like to mention (as well as possibly correct), I have got the Google+ Photo app as well, and I’m using the Series 3. I got it the day it came out, so I’m not sure about the claim of “Pixel only”. I am on the Dev channel, so that may be how I was able to get it.

    1. You are absolutely correct! You don’t need a Pixel although if you’re using a different Chrome OS device the Photos app may not appear in the Chrome Web Store for you. We actually discussed this in our most recent Chrome Show podcast, which goes live tomorrow morning. ;) Thanks!
