Yes I think you are right, 70% of the market is integrated today, and growing, and Intel and NVidia racing to achieve what Qualcomm already have.  If thin modems are to be successful, I think the volumes needed to return investment would be huge - that at least would be good news for ST-Micro too ;)

I think the true motivation for Ericsson is to exploit the existing patent portfolio and then sell the modem part in the future.  I believe Ericsson can see a good return from that and do not want to keep the modem part for ever.]]></description>
