I also think this is highly worthwhile project. However, a small company with a good idea that puts it into a proposal does, from what I understand, let all their judges and related personal see what you have written. My worry is that some of these people who will be seeing your proposal, may have their own companies. If so, this is quite a treasure trove of information that GE and the other companies get to see for nothing. If you win, that is great; but if you lose, your ideas become everyone's ideas, which may not be desirable.

I put in a proposal for another topic that Philips wanted. After going through many cuts and almost a year of waiting, we were in the final selection. So what does Philips do; they just simply cancel the solicitation. Why not, they got what they wanted, marketing intelligence. What do we get; we get to give all our good ideas to Philips and help let them know what every aspect of their competition is doing. And they get it free, but it takes small companies time and money to produce it. This is a great marketing scheme. Responders may want to reconsider if they have any really good ideas because, from what I understand, these ideas will be in the public domain real fast. Actually the idea might be in the hands of competitors even faster

This is a very worthwhile project as these injuries stay with those involved with them potentially for a lifetime.

We are focusing on making a line of sports protective equipment to mitigate against spinal cord injury and concussions. If you are interested in learning what we are doing and in the industry, please contact me at mike@mioflex.com. Serious inquiries only.
