So let me get this right. Twitter gives me what I ask for and Facebook gives me what they want, regardless of the fact, I asked for it.

So in essence I have a choice:

Twitter: Get what I request.
Facebook: Get what I request when Facebook decides I should get it - if ever.

I wonder if "unfiltered" will remain an option, going forward. Sounds like only Google will be somewhat on the "unfiltered" side of things. Although even with Google right now, your search is quite limited, depending on users' geographical location.

I think it's important to give the users the control - or at least the illusion that they have the control. With Facebook, there is always that underlying skepticism that something shady is going on behind the scenes. But when it comes to Twitter, the user has complete control of what they see in their stream, and I think that gives Twitter an advantage. If Twitter users want to limit what they see, they have the option to do that. For Facebook those decisions are dictated for you, and it leaves a bad taste in users' mouths.

It's my perception that the size constraint on Twitter allows more voices to show up on a single screen shot (right now, I can see 6 posts on twitter, 2 on Facebook without scrolling).

There also seems to be a faster reaction time - events can happen "live" on Twitter, making it both a great breaking news source (misreporting aside) and a way to follow a longer developing situation.

On the other hand, I follow/friend different people on the two networks, so maybe it's my choices that create this sense of Twitter-fast, Facebook-LOL
