I agree, Web OS is a wonderful operating system to use and its abilitiy to fuse together social networks and contacts with notifications will work well for tv, I wonder how much of the original interface will remain such as cards and how it will be controlled, iOS/android app? touch device or traditional controller. The potential is very strong! Hp failed on the hardware and pricing structure but the operating system is still my favourite to use between ios android and web os. Looking forward to seeing it, must hold off that purchase of new big screen until next year now :-)

In an old blog I had links to Intel Developers Portal and I distinctly remember Intel's Eric Kin and Yahoo being first to announce Yahoo Connected TV.

Now if I remember correctly Netcast was nothing more than an LG brand name for Yahoo's Connected TV widget framework.

Anybody that has been involved in connected TV development knows Yahoo pioneered but then threw it all away by refusing to support a browser and by the big time most stupid assinine move of all time attempting to compel Windows and Mac developers to migrate to Linux.

webOS on the other hand had a lot of respect by developers but simply got lost in the fray of the iOS mania followed by the appearance of Android. I think this is a good move for LG and as a developer myself I will be anxious to learn what I can do with webOS.

If LG supports all of the W3C standards for HTML5 development they have a chance to really become a top contender.
