Apple is smart to actually keep a stockpile of cash. One of the reasons it started to fail in the 80s and 90s was lack of cash, lack of R&D, lack of ability to acquire anything beneficial. Eventually this changed, and the cash flow has proved this. Now that it is in a better position, it is wise to always keep a savings, like a 401K when people want to retire Apple, it has enough to keep it floating for the next project.

The next play was Steve Jobs' favorite. Apple will pressure the US government to give them a tax holiday so they can bring all the money back to the US free of charge. They'll give us the usual rhetoric about job creation and such, which will be backed up by Wallstreet because of how much money they stand to make. In effect they will be paying share holders with tax payer money. Aaaaaaaaand this is what happens when you let Corporations become too powerful.

I'm sure Tim Cook had a lot to say today and judging from Apple's instant share price collapse, investors hated every word of it. Tim Cook's spittle has an action like gasoline on an open fire. It's rather amazing how when Apple management speaks it enrages Wall Street and Apple shareholders. I'm really not feeling any love among them.
