Obviously if you have an idea for a viable app, college might not be worth it. But that’s not the case here. He will go to Stanford, learn a LOT more about Computer Science and how to create even more complex apps, and get to network with people he may create a startup with.

I like the idea but imagine someone else has beat him to the punch.

Here’s what would really grab Stanford’s attention. Create an app that raises money to send you to their school with enough left over to donate (AKA build them a new building).

It just might work.

In the early 2000s I did a CD which would autorun an application using Flash I built which looked very similar to the above presentation only on the desktop. I did not get into that school either. Guesses are this app will be just like my CD… not looked at by admissions people.
