Its great that this conversation is front and center. College and Career Readiness are of paramount importance to the nation, specifically the economy. There has been a lot of talk about whether colleges are preparing students properly for work. I guess the fundamental question is whether college as an institution was designed for that.

What if there were parallel degrees. One an academic degree, and the other a 'career degree?' Right now, you have to choose a major which in large part is one or the other. With the lowering cost of high quality educational materials (online), why isn't it possible to do both at the same time.

What's missing right now is the ability to package online education into employer-recognized credentials. I'm working on a way to do this over at Ecruit (http://www.tryecruit.com) so fingers crossed that we can find a way to better help student jobseekers prepare for the real world!

Hello Ki, Great chat last night. I really enjoyed the conversation with you and the other Twitter chat participants. I'm so glad you followed up with this article because this morning I saw an infographic that illustrated how the job market is very hot for tech careers: http://amazinginfographics.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-hottest-careers-spotlight-on.html

I wished I had seen it a day earlier so I could have shared it with our Twitter chat group.

Excellent synopsis, I hope that we are able to get together for another Twitter chat again soon.
