Twitter on tv is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I don't know any of these people, nor do I ever want to. If they're on the Dr. Oz show talking about the reproductive system, can I tweet that I think vaginas are smelly? I think that's funny and all the world needs to see it. Can I then follow it up with penises are saggy, and they need to tie up their balloon knots so we don't have to see them? I think that's funny and everyone needs to hear it. Maybe then I can tweet that I just farted and it's so stinky. Actually I sharted. Maybe we can get a live feed as well so I can spread it all over the lens, cuz I think that's funny, and the whole world needs to see it. Seriously, stop invading our privacy with your idiotic attempts to show how intelligent of a race we are. It's not amusing, cute, or funny. The US is full of complete idiots, and they're gonna be running our planet in 20 years. What a bunch of bumbling bafoons. How America hasn't been destroyed yet, I have no clue. Btw, Do you have a live feed so I can re-tweet this?

No, that's not where the money is. If I get tweets I don't want to see I unfollow. If I get too many promoted tweets I go to some new social platform and twitter becomes myspace.

Like you, I'd be very disappointed if Twitter focused exclusively on TV content, but I really don't see that happening. If that's all it was, people would stop using it except for very specific instances, which would stall user growth and diminish Twitter's importance to those TV-related partners. I think Twitter will remain a real-time communications platform about any and all manner of topics because that's how it becomes ubiquitous to ever-larger numbers of users.

Plus, the beauty of Twitter has always been, IMHO, that you can use it for whatever you want and in whatever way you want. There are very few rules or guideposts (for individual users at least) and that's what makes it so appealing. You can adapt Twitter to the types of content and conversations you care about, which may vary widely depending upon your age, region, career, ethnic group and interests.
