i must say i prefer Spotify over itunes and itunes podcasts but we must admit that copycat start ups do usually provide something extra or upgraded from the original version. as for the example of Spotify , italy does not permit the online music service in their country and there is a battle between skype and cell phone service providers in italy as well. for example if you have mobile web access provided by Vodafone and you try and use skype on your smartphone, it is almost impossible to make an audible call using skype and you might as well forget about making a video call. Vodafone in their own sneaky way seems to block skype access on purpose. so it is not so easy for start ups in europe to get off the ground with out outside mega corporation interference. Europe is still a very closed market all around with tons of laws prohibiting free market movement and the execution of ideas. Europe is an old continent with an old business strategy that operates on exclusion instead of inclusion. so I am skeptical that a public offering by these guys will generate much global acclaim and productivity.
