Interesting podcast. Both George and Jo make excellent points. I noted a few things though:

Addiction to services can be detrimental
Both analysts talk about the huge opportunity with services. I think that the necessity to inject so much services into the space is an indication that the software and hardware solutions currently being proposed are too complicated. That's a shame and it should change. Companies need to find solutions that snap into their environment (technical and human). If they depend so much in outside services to succeed, they won't be able to sustain success.

Analytics is Big Data's Killer App
Both analysts agree of the importance of Analytics on top of the data infrastructure. I agree and would even go further and state: "Analytics is Big Data's Killer App". Additionally, I would say that real-time analytics is a functionality that all companies can benefit from. The question is how we define "real-time". Most companies today think about "real-time" more as "right-time" e.g. a timeframe that works for their specific needs. This is someone similar to what Jo calls "the dial".

Apart from this, great podcast although I suggest you cut it up into chapters (47 mins is long to listen to at once).

Analytically Yours,
Bruno Aziza
