Pica8 has been involved in the OpenFlow enabled switch market for quite a while. Their hardware/software combination is possibly the most used and tested OpenFlow equipment on the market. Pica8's software has been community tested and vetted for years.

While they are just coming to the attention of the mass market, Pica8 has years of experience behind them working with some of the largest and most demanding companies in the world. Look at any OpenSource OpenFlow project and you will see the names "Pronto/Quanta/XORplus", the Pronto 3290 switch is very common.

I personally use a Pronto switch running XORPlus for most of my OpenFlow development work as other vendors are either hard to come by, require beta agreements or are just getting their feet wet.

Interesting piece.
Please note, however, Quanta is Taiwanese, not Chinese - and that makes a big difference.
