I would also love to see the new owner (if your public appeals work, Jordan) diversify the payment options by adding on-demand access, opt-in advertising, embeddable widgets, P2P affiliation, etc. 100K paying subscribers is a very nice start. by adding those other options, however, one can increase the outreach and cash flow several times.

All of these things are characteristics of any decent news website.
What does a subscription-based app built along these lines offer that is different to a website with a paywall?

I agree that news is a constant process, but I also enjoy longer and deeper articles that frame the story rather than regurgitate the AP feed. I have watched many sites try to balance the two and with varying degrees of success.

What the Daily missed was the opportunity to find that sweetspot and deliver it in a way that no other site has accomplished in my opinion.
