I play music instruments but wouldn’t call myself a professional and certainly can’t make a living out of it. Hats off to you!

I majored in music and after a few years working as a musician realized that I needed a ‘real’ job. I taught myself programming but unfortunately wasn’t able to get a job without a technical degree, so went back to school and got a masters in computer science (my self-taught programming along with name recognition of my undergrad school was enough to get me admitted, if barely).

Turns out I took to it very well and have been in the industry for about 15 yours now. Best career move I ever made and I still get to play professionally on the side :)

If anyone is reading this wondering whether or not to make the career switch I would highly recommend it!
