Crowdfunding is definitely CHANGE happening right now....Here's a reblog of a whole list of them, each having it's own niche and different ways of operating. We (my band) is looking into if we can utilize crowdfunding this year and do it in a way where it's not just another band asking for money from peeps for an album or tour etc....We'd have to use crowdsourcing in a better way. Hmmm we'll have to sort it out but we'll see. Anyone have experience with it (Crowdsourcing)? Thoughts?

Thanks for writing about us (MedStartr.com). I also agree that RockThePost is pretty awesome and can make the list, though their model is a little different so it is understandable that it was not listed.

I will note that in addition to a few projects that have raised well over 20K online, our average for-profit project also raised about 400K offline within 100 days of their project start from traditional VCs or through grants or acquisitions. We also have done pretty well for NGOs and non-profit missions. Overall, our clients also get more than two new partnerships going as well, a key element in the healthcare sector.

We find that when patients stand up for the care innovations they want to see, doctors, hospitals, pharma, and even our government pays attention and gets involved. This is a huge piece of good news for all of us that want to get and give better care because we finally have a say on what gets to market. This is part of why we think that Crowdfunding makes so much sense in healthcare. We turn patients into Patrons of the care that they care about and this is bringing a new renaissance to healthcare.

Thanks again Ryan and GigaOM for including MedStartr in the list!

Be Well,

The problem for startups is often not the funding. It is the size of the funding. Many startups calculate too small amounts seed investment needed. That is problematic, because it is often easier to get initial seed capital than additional capital injection. I like the concept of crowd funding very much. But I hope the homework of making the business plan would be supported more, so the chances of success for teh startups increases.
