Good story. Inrix tells rthe world and investors that traffic information providers do have chance to succcess. Inrix provides a lot of LBS style applies, besides these, the tracking data of the vehicles will innovatively enchance the accuracy of transport planning.

Can we please admit that congestion management begets more VMT and CO2 emissions? We need a data system that gets people to buy a house within walking distance of a rail station so that they can leave their car at home…parked.

This is a great story about the real (not the hype) BigData, which gains its power not from the ability to redirect us to a side road, but from moving us from reacting to predicting. It comes from ubiquitous data that relies on powerful analytics.

This is what ubiquitous data offers…the ability to know our environment in all of its complex ways and to help us predict what will happen that will affect us positively or negatively. As ubiquitous data becomes more and more the reality, we will tackle more and more predictability like urban sprawl and many other challenges.
