Or, you could just buy the $30 Samsung Desktop dock which has a speaker out, and plug that into any audio system you choose.

Tom, this has the same option of your Bose; an auxiliary input from a headphone jack. The benefit here is that the dock charges the phone at the same time.

i have never understood the attraction of a device specific dock, it just seems really limited.

personally i have a Bose wave radio with a cable running from the back that i can plug into any headphone jack, this works with any phone, tablet, laptop, etc. i wish to use. nearly any jam box or mini stereo can be used in the same way. why anyone would buy speakers that only work with a single brand just makes no sense to me.
