Not sure what the game is, but if your willing to get the best deal your willing to walk away(at least for the time being). Clearwire needs Sprint more than Sprint needs Clearwire now. Sprint is in a position to deal now or later, Clearwire will needs to figure if they have the same options.

Do you really believe SB would spend $20B without having control too the spectrum life-blood required to grow past 2014 anticipated data volumes? That would be a silly bet.

Sprint doesn’t have enough spectrum in the US to compete with VZ and AT&T – not by a long shot. While Sprint can try to leverage their wholesale relationship with Clearwire, it’s a whole lot more efficient – and cost effective in the long run – for Sprint to own those facilities themselves.

Sprint doesn’t need to buy clear wire outright because they have a large stake in the company and they are clear’s only customer.

is there actually any information content here? Softbank gets major 2.5 GHz buying economics with Sprint. Sprint can’t buy in Clearwire without buying the whole thing and Softbank can’t do anything else till this deal is closed (that includes MetroPCS). Softbank is a major competitive threat to the biggies, while that quiet period drones one I’d watch out for spoliers to show up.
