The auto brightness…..ehh, I can take it or leave it, but I did want the percentage status for the battery to be there.

I just noticed it today. I’m very upset and disappointed.
This is not a little thing for me. It was really important function for me.

How can they take a step back and charge more?

i use my ipod mostly for music and reading .. the auto brigthness is a must have for me.. so im keeping my ipod 4.

your life must be so hard, you have to go all the way to the settings menu to change your brightness :( wow, your ridiculous. simply place you hand over the ipod to cover the screen so you can see outside.

I have a 3rd gen iTouch. It has an auto light sensor but it doesn’t seem to work consistently. The new 5th gen shows a sensor of some sort on the rear upper right but I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s only the external cover glass for the auto sensor that is left over from earlier generations but is non-functional in the 5th? Am correct? Am I lookin at the rear of the 5th and not the 4th????

There is a ‘hack’ (that does NOT require jailbreaking) to enable the battery percentage in the status bar. It was the first thing I did with my new iPod touch. If only the lack of an ambient light sensor problem was so easily dispatched.

I guess it’s a nice feature but really not critical for the iPod. It’s not used in apps and not that accurate for screen dimming and you’re not using as a phone to kill the screen.

I mean if you’re not buying the iPod because of the light sensor and don’t want the thinner body, larger screen, faster processeor, what else are you going to buy? You probably weren’t going to buy it anyway.
