Can Panasonic or Toshiba mass produce a cost-effective, lithium-ion battery, that can store enough electricity (that is generated by an electric generator powered by natural gas) to power a WHOLE-HOUSE? I have a gas well in my backyard, so the gas comes free. Who do I contact at Panasonic or Toshiba to use my home to test the reliability and durability of such a battery?

From a renewable energy standpoint, it's o.k. Gas should hasten the practical obsolescence of coal, and when it does, combined with export terminals an inevitable funging (is that a word) of combustible energy, the price will rise. Gas is cheap now because supply has increased faster than distribution can allow demand, but demand will catch up, and then the price of it will reach parity with oil.

When the price of gas rises to a demand driven level, and the costs of the inevitable pollution that fracking get shouldered by the public, renewable energy will be there, more advanced than today, and ready to deliver a cleaner, less expensive solution.

In the meantime, there will be pollution and climate chaos. But that seems to be the price people are willing to pay.

Used jet engines are available cheap, and provide time-responsive peaking load. And NatGas is cheap right now. Duct the exhaust under the boiler of a former coal-fired plant and efficiency goes way up. The exhaust is co2 and h2o. There is demand for the co2 for injection into old oilfields for secondary recovery of oil. Sounds like win-win to me.
