Just like in food safety where the EU is regulating food traceability (from the farm to the fork), enterprises should track deployment options from the data center to the device to make sure the value chain is uncompromised:

What about your deployment models? How elastic is your IT? Have you got cloud traceability? Can you show cloud traceability in your cloud offerings?

It'll be interesting to see what impact this initiative will have. The EU has brought some excellent benefits for consumers (like reduced mobile roaming, which I wish would also apply when I roam in the US!) so hopefully they can do the same with B2B. There is precedent for consumer protection in contracts but doing the same for business will be tough. I expect they'll just provide guidelines for this.

"EU-wide certification schemes for trustworthy cloud providers" will also be interesting. This is exactly the kind of thing that can get mixed up with EU bureaucracy so it'll be important to have the certification mean something, which will be achieved by getting key industry players involved at a operational level, not just high level committees.

I would like to see involvement from companies of all sizes too - often larger corporates have the budget for what is essentially lobbying for these things. Startups (who are most likely to bring innovation) have less time and money to do this.
