Leveraging the “cloud” and other emerging technologies as mentioned above more than likely result in a net decrease in energy consumption – even without taking into account that many/most MTDC providers and even single-tenant plays are probably on the bleeding edge in terms of utilizing renewable energy and other efficiency-boosting technologies to maximize efficiency and minimize reliance on carbon-based energy.
