well people share pictures of their meals in fb, I think its not a bad idea to share what you are listening at a given moment, but I guess having a specific social network for that is too much. Twitter is more than enough IMHO.

Facebook by and large sucks, Instagram, and Twitter are not far behind, revenues as a company-service will not be what people will remember about those three programs-services. Apple hopefully will not get caught up the fad of social do not buy any of these companies or pay them for anything, you don’t need them to make real money with real customers (See iPhone 5).

I don’t need any social network when using my devices. They are private to me. I wish Apple would not integrate facebook so much either. Don’t like it , don’t want it. I want choice.

By focusing on how people actually communicate vs trying to put a square peg in a round hole they might have had something. While they were playing with ping instagram comes from nowhere. Social networking today is a mobile activity whereas ping was a desktop dinobore. They were a few lightyears behind on that one.

For me, it was a link to be avoided in iTunes so that I didn’t accidentally click it. If I want to tell someone about a new song I have heard, I can transmit that info to them without using some silly ‘social’ service.
