Hailo is in Dublin only a few months and is making a huge difference to us taxi drivers and the customers love the service and the efficiency Hailo gives with a speedier safer service . Isnt it great that when you travel to a different city on pleasure or business you can tap your phone and get a taxi in mins? Do you know that this is not about Uber’s traditional service operating in NY (which they already do) but rather a NEW service where they use their app to connect passengers to licensed TAXICABS (as opposed to limousines/sedans). Your article doesn’t make that clear. You’ve lumped this in with the fights in DC, SF, and Massachusetts while ignoring the fact that those issues were distinct (as limos and taxis are regulated much differently). Also, why do you keep saying that the “taxi lobby” was forcing the DC council to place a price floor in place? I read in DCist that the “Uber lobby” negotiated that price floor with the Chair of the transportation Committee, not the taxi lobby. Please clarify.

As a London cabbie I have seen an increase in car companies wich is having an affect on our trade.
So after using Hailo it has brought new technology
Back to the London black cab trade it’s brilliant,
The large mini cab company addison lee who have done well over the last several years are beginning
to suffer due to Hailo. So if the yellow cabs of new York want to win back there work, do not hesitate
With apps like Hailo.
It has been designed by cab drivers for cab drivers.

Good article. Would be nice if you listed some of the other competitors in the space
