I'll be selling my iPad soon as a result of this ridiculous lawsuit. Apple have no right to own basic design elements such as rounded corners. I do not wish to buy from a company capable of these stupid litigation games that waste money and stifle innovation. I'm no Samsung fan either, or Google... Sick of them all. They aim to make profit above all else. The actual customers who use the devices come second. Meanwhile they try to sign us up to every little service they have and take over our lives - contacts, payment methods, work, play. "Trust us, because we sue anyone who steals the things we don't really own". See you later.

Isn't every phone and the network itself proprietary. I mean Nokia, MS, Samsung, HTC and what have you all have proprietary phones don't they. You can't go fiddle with them can you?

Isn't the network proprietary itself, I mean only AT&T can change its network, not you and I. So the entire system was already proprietary, so what is your complaint.

Windows is proprietary isn't in, only Microsoft can change it. I think you mean a system that can be licensed and not proprietary, don't you?

This does little to offset my disdain for Apple. It doesnt alter the fact that they have polluted the mobile ecosystem with a proprietary mentality that would embarrass Sony and make their executives blush.

They in the long run are whats wrong with mobile and until they can be neutered as a platform, true handheld innovation will stagnate!

Well, I read in Interchange by Jack C. Richards that in grade 1, North American children are taught that creativity is paramount. On the other hand, Asian Children are taught to cooperate. So as a result, you can see Samsung, losing their suit to Apple because the courts in North America favour creativity. While Samsungers were doing what they learned in grade 1. They were helping each other to battle Apple cooperatively, not considering creativity valuable.

Thanks very much for writing the article. I know you did a lot of hard work and put a lot of research into the article. I appreciate it.

It was very interesting the unexpected negative effect the result would have on Google.
