		<description><![CDATA[There are so many ways of looking at this I almost feel dizzy.

There&#039;s an adage that&#039;s something like &quot;if you&#039;re not the one doing the selling, then you&#039;re the one that&#039;s being sold.&quot;  I&#039;m sure I got that wrong, but the point is a valid one.  There&#039;s no direct commercial transaction between twitter and the user, so where do you think the money will come from?  It will come from trading assets.  Twitter&#039;s only asset is the insight it has on its users.

It will do what any business will do to protect its assets and make money from them. Sometimes the user will feel the balance is all wrong. But as long as the service is still there, and free, all you&#039;ll see are moans and grumbles.  Like it or not, millions of people hate Facebook.  But they still use it.

If the author&#039;s assertions about twitter&#039;s course of direction are correct, it will end up becoming something very different from where it started out.  That&#039;s probably what will happen, regardless of it becoming some sort of]]></description>

Twitter needs to start making money, so it will begin to charge those sites for access to that data.  It&#039;s called capitalism.  Get used to it.]]></description>
