You&#039;re wrong about search. Twitter Search started out as MySql, sharded across many layers when Summize was purchased. Later, it was Lucene with a Rails front end, after that, pure Java.

The infrastructure of this company is well documented. Just go to conferences. Go look at the previous talks that are out there.  Read the Open Source Documentation.  Go back and look through major conferences where engineers have presented.

Also for the love of god, if you want to find out where the data centers, learn to use traceroute. 

Additionally, Two failures in so many months does not mean the site can&#039;t &quot;harpoon a fail whale&quot;.
