Paying with an app vs. a credit card isn’t much different, but paying with my phone instead of carrying a gift/payment/rewards card for every merchant that I frequent adds convenience. Factor in that merchants may provide discounts or rewards that can be tracked in the app and there is additional value. I predict there will be some backlash though once every major retailer tries to have there own payment app.
