It is a national shame for NBC, and i think YouTube has scored negative points.

I thought this should have happened a long time ago, but to my understanding free coverage of big sporting events like the Olympics and World Cup hasn’t been possible due to media rights and what not.

YouTube’s live streaming has been getting better now that they are capable of delivering 1080p content live. However, when compared to the livestream of say the recent Google IO, I fail to even watch 720p without buffering. In the Google IO stream, 720p was flawless. I have the exact same Internet connection and have not experienced slow downs in between.

Another thing…the events are not really live!!! Some are around 1-2 mins behind, while the closest are around 20 secs delayed. This is understandable but hopefully they cut that out in time to come. Thanks for the artcile as I now understand why on Earth I am able to watch it live. :)
