It seems inevitable that Universities will pay the extra Coursera fee to enable real time conversations between students and professors.
Ultimately, I think the convenience of remote learning will level off and will be used as a compliment to the real classroom experience.

But as Danah Boyd explained….the need is there and devices coupled with effective software and security will no doubt cater to this need. Anything else runs the risk of losing prospective students..

Maybe MIT and Berkeley have sounded the trumpet and other universities will soon follow.

That said, it is not likely that Higher Ed will change much – it will simply get supplanted by more effective delivery mechanisms. The Ivory will be looking dirty and cracked by then.
