Thanks for feedback – the competitions terms and conditions have been part of the application process which also includes terms on data submitted.

However, the terms were not that obvious (only on the submit info page with the CAPCHA) – so we will add it to the bottom of the site and make sure we add the EU cookies directive and also contact the Information Commissioner as a Data Controller – where we hold any personally identifiable data we will ensure that we will be adhering to UK’s legal requirements.

Bobbie – you are absolutely right – of course they do and when the competition fully launches in October – all will be revealed.

Right now the competition is open to entries for the launch – so if you have an idea and want to be part of the launch then now is the time to get involved.

Their website is breaking the EU cookies directive (by not telling visitors that it uses them) and also has no Privacy Policy. And as they are storing personally identifiable data are they registered with the information Commissioner as a Data Controller. And if they are a Limited Company (likely but not possible to discern from the site) they should be displaying their company registration details.

Apart from that they seem like warm and useful human beings.

Of course they’re entitled to spend their money how they please (though this is not their money). But don’t the entrants to the competition at least deserve to know what they’re signing up to?

Reblogged this on Bocanegra and commented: Digital Shoreditch can do whatever they please with their money, so keeping it private really shouldn't matter. Don't most companies keep it private? I understand he raised the idea in a public interview but the whole process is most likely meant to be carried out this way. Build the hype, invest in a venture, watch the media follow it's every move, and in turn keeps potential investors aware. If anything, the marketing is what is most at play, not the secrecy.
