I am still waiting for a viable replacement for my original T-mobile 7″ Galaxy Tab. I want the carrier data plan on my tablet and T-mobile isn’t offering a replacement worth getting yet. I’m hoping that Google will offer a version with a 4G radio in it but being on T-mobile, I’m used to disappointment regarding device selection.

No mention of a MicroSD slot or bluetooth is very bad news. Looking forward to actually hear from google about the specs/features.

If the tablet doesn’t have the features I mentioned then I will be forced to take my business to Samsung. I already have the fire which is limited to 8gb. I’m not making that mistake again!!

Jack, 8 GB is a challenge. Once you include the OS, you already lose around a GB, for starters. Download a movie from Google Play and that’s another 1 to 1.5 GB. Same with music. I’m now streaming more music (and thus carrying less), but I watch local movie files. And then there’s the apps… Like you said, if there’s a microSD card slot, it’s a moot point. But if not, I know I’d drop the extra money for the 16 GB version. My Galaxy Nexus is fine on 16 GB, but I doubt it would be as useful with 8.

Kevin, in your experience, is 8gb viable? I struggle to stick within the 16gb limit on my NS and can’t fathom having to get by on half that. A few games, some music, a movie or two, and an Audubon app or two, and I’m already over 8gb. Obviously, this becomes moot if the N7 comes with a microSD slot.

What it means is Apple IOS will be pushed to third and be ran over by the new top two [i.e Android & WP8] much sooner than I thought, perhaps within just two years instead of my original estimate of three to four years. In other words, the time to short Apple stock is about two months after they release the lame Iphone5 which will be eaten alive by WP8 and whatever next iteration of Android devices.

These specs look similar to what (little) we know about the Windows RT Surface. If Google can knock out a $250 tegra 3, 7inch tablet what does this mean for the pricing of Microsoft’s 10inch device?
