It was a great show. BTW, did the writer of this article ever WATCH the show? “J.D. Walsh told them about his political comedy series project Battleground” — comedy? When? Where? This was a well done political drama with some warmth and humor thrown in when appropriate. Hardly a comedy…

I love ‘Battleground’. I started watching it when about half of the episodes had been released. The ensuing catch-up marathon left me emotionally invested in all of the characters, and I looked forward to each weeks episode with great anticipation. It quickly became my favorite show.

I believe ‘Battleground’ was a key player in my decision to cut the cable. I now get all my television online, and I am happy about it.

I’m excited to see original web-based programming taking off…I think it will provide higher quality programming. The TV networks have a restricted amount of time in which to gain eyeballs, so they have to go for what will attract the largest crowds – but the web isn’t challenged in the same way, and a niche market can still be a successful market.
I do think that “experimentation” is allowed in broadcast tv – e.g. X-Files has some pretty interesting experimental episodes over the years…but usually these sort of episodes wait till later seasons when the audience is hooked and will stick through something unusual…
