yeah, @thomas if someone hacks into your wireless and downloads a bunch of crap it looks like you did it. then say the ISP uses an ip location tool like www.unlocktheinbox.com/locateip/ and find the physical location for that ip. its going to look like you did it, not the intruder. thankfully they are usually a neighbor or something and the police can get a warrent to do... whatever it is they do to catch pirates.]]></description>

That is a loss of $250,000 a day from one BitTorrent computer on a normal US broadband connection.  Yes, the copyright owner is trying to get them to settle for a couple thousand dollars as a deterrent even though their actual damages are much higher.  That is what courts are for, to help to stop people from damaging one another.]]></description>
