And there is a temptation to be a bit sanctimonious about all this, no ? The copying of layouts and colours is a bit vulgar, but who in eCommerce has not looked at great Amazon UX techniques and thought “hmmm, I must try that”. I confess…

But looking at Lazada.com (for instance) I do find it breathtaking that their user product reviews are copied and pasted from the Amazon website (they were 3 days ago, deleted now, perhaps gone forever) and their product information seems to have been sucked off Amazon too: I just saw an ‘Amazon.co.uk Exclusive’ product on the Lazada site ! Screen-scraping blitzkrieg-style…
