I guess that the fact that a “Cloud service” was a complete failure missed your attention. This type of application is not a cloud service

I’m the founder of a live blogging solution (aliviator) and it’s a tough market. Publishers don’t like a lot of what these current providers have to offer, but most operate on what their competitors do, not what might be best for their product. As this article suggests, maybe this market is now ready for change.

I must applaud AOL/Engadget for their stable coverage of the iPad event. The five other live blog sites I tried cracked under the heavy load. It’s not often that you hear about AOL excelling over their rivals. Good stuff.

I started out at GigaOm/The Apple Blog – jumped to a couple others I usually avoid because every other geek writers thinks he shows “independence” with sophomoronic one-liners interspersed with actual coverage.

Finally ended up at The Mac Observer – which was smooth, sufficiently detailed – and didn’t bore me with thoughts about Tim Cook’s shoes. Ran perfectly.

I think google docs are limited to 100 or so viewers, but I don’t know that for certain.

Thanks, Pete. The GDGT live blogs have always been pretty stable in my experience, but I didn’t see it on Wednesday (we were pretty busy with our own issues) and wasn’t trying to make an exclusive list of who was up and who was down.

I was mainly watching the GDGT live blog but alternated to The Verge a few times because their photos (because they were closer to the stage) were better. But for reliability, I had no issue (and never have) with Ryan and Peter’s site.
