Several trends are converging in the auto industry. Cars are going green and simultaneously becoming a service. Zipcar is an example where you no longer own the car – the vehicle is part of the public transport make-up of the city. In-Car apps will provide greater predictability for the way cars navigate and behave collectively, making them more effective modes of public transport.

In-car locality-based advertising will appear shortly, given the captive audience. Many of the car’s functions are likely to be locked compared to conversion owned vehicles.

Hi Armin, yep there is certainly a potential for such a network to be disaster. My guess is Ford would have to start out consevatively, allowing cars to share info with one another but requiring the driver to act on it, not the vehicles themselves

Such a system could only work if everyone, without a single exception obeyed the Golden rule every time and all the time without a single failure or nefarious deed. One failure in all 4 billion or more would destroy the system.
