Now that Google has brought its Chrome browser to desktops, laptops, Chromebooks (remember those?) and, just today, to Android 4.0 tablets and smartphones, where will Chrome appear next? For $60, it can be on your wrist, but don’t expect to browse for anything but the time.
Google’s online store has a Chrome Watch Set that includes one timepiece and two straps. Feeling blue? There’s a watchband to match your mood. Gray skies above? Pop the Chrome watch face in the matching band. Instead of numbers, you’ll see a dozen small Chrome logos; with the largest being at 3, 6, 9 and 12. And while the Chrome watch — like the new Android browser –doesn’t support Flash, it could be described as flashy.
I like the concept, but I’m a little disappointed. Having grown up when everyone was wearing Mickey Mouse watches, wouldn’t it be great if there was an option to have Vic Gundotra’s arms pointing out the time?
