Whoever thought featuring confused aliens that look like Pirates of the Caribbean characters as the centerpiece of GM’s Super Bowl ad is confused about how to sell a category-making extended range electric car. And if the latest January sales numbers are an indicator — just 603 for the month — GM is struggling in general with how to market and move the Volts off the lots. Yes, it’s partly a production problem, but still.
