How can someone who has presided over Dixons’ massively epic retail fails be offered this position?

I worry for Apple.

I’ve not yet been in a Dixons owned store and had good service or knowledgeable advice; their profits come from low wages, limited staff, sales training without product knowledge, and selling cheap rubbish for monopoly prices. Customer service was NEVER part of their sales message. Anyone coming from there is tainted, no matter who they are or how clever. You walk in to one of those stores with your guard up, you know you are just about to be fleeced without getting what you really need.

I once asked the Dixon’s owned PC World in store satellite TV ‘expert’ about their products. He told me that in order to change channel I had to connect the receiver to the telephone so that when I pressed the remote control button the telephone would send a signal to the satellite to change the channel for me! ROFLMAO!

Very funny image of a PC World store, I think this is an “old” style store seeing as the photo was taken in 2006! The new ones are very much more “Apple” in style and provide more space to show off the products more effectively. Their customer service is still shockingly poor, but then we don’t really like smiling and happy store staff here in the UK as a rule!

I think you have a point. Maybe it’s about getting mini-Apple stores (at a substantially lower cost) into Target, Best Buy, etc…

He seems to bleed numbers, numbers drive numbers. Ron seems too sweat experience, get the experience right and the numbers follow. Give it 2-3 years to see if JCP is a very different chain and where Apple in store experience is.

What a long story on the look and feel of the store.
No, it will not look like a Dixons store, due to the simple reason that Dixons year budget on store dressing is about the same Apple spends in a week for toilet paper or office supplies for the store.

1 out of 10 for service at PC World would be generous! More likely a negative since any advice given from those ‘working’ there would most likely be counter-productive…
