After some early rumors made the rounds, it turns out Apple will indeed be holding a press event in New York City this month. Invitations went out Wednesday (pictured).

The invitation has few details, but says it will center on education. The event will take place at the Guggenheim Museum on Jan. 19 starting at 10 a.m. EST.

So what will happen at the (very rare) Apple event in New York? Well, as the city is the center of the publishing world, it’s been rumored Apple is going to announce an expansion of its iBookstore to include textbooks. Perhaps an effort to replace multiple hardback textbooks with digital textbooks packed onto an iPad? SVP of Internet Services Eddy Cue, who is in charge of the iBookstore, is said to be one of the featured speakers at the event.

We’ll be there and live blogging the event, so be sure to check back here that day.
