The American Broadcasters are realizin that the "TV anywhere" concept that works via streaming Video can also be applied to traditional Broadcast TV to reinvigorate their advertising business.

Telecom Provider LIME in Jamaica launched LIME TV successfully in 2010 and now their parent CWC PLC is pushing a IPTV Version over their soon-to-be-upgraded 3G Network (upgraded to HSDPA+) using content from Avail-TVN and equipment from Juniper Networks.

The secret? Good exclusive content and a flexible model to allow for the "TV anywhere" concept tied in heavily with Social Networking.

I hope they look into putting these receivers into tablets. The bigger screen makes viewing TV more reasonable and the increased size might make adding the additional hardware and antenna's easier to squeeze in. If they target device manufacturers then they don't have to worry about carrier buy-in and will give an added use for the wifi-only tablets.

I've been saying this for years. Even though everyone knows American carriers want to monetize on-demand subscriptions to video content, Koreans had DMB tuners in their phones for a loooong loooong time. I only hope more phones like this make it state-side sooner rather than later.
