Well the signup worked and I received the confirmation email and now I see little clouds beside my songs, but they are all “waiting” I have heard that the initial connection takes some time so I will give it some time. Hopefully the little clouds are not waiting for Godot

Same experience in Canada. subscribed, received e-mail confirmation but iTunes match then experienced an error, log and log back in again and now it’s all disappeared. No evidence of match subscription at all. Disappointing, particularly as Apple had the opportunity to practice on Americans to get it right.
