Salesforce.com has cloud based apps and a cloud platform that are specifically built for business apps (large #s of users, relational data, sharing rules, user management, mobile client, etc.). Security, uptime, roadmap and not breaking your custom code/customizations with new releases are big areas that we focus on. Disclaimer – I work for salesforce.com
