You could say that the Silicon Roundabout (East London Tech City) has many of the same challenges -- in addition to sourcing talent they also have an apparent VC investor shortage.

That said, both New York and London will likely create their own digital economy identities over time, and then the comparisons with the silicon valley will seem pointless.

I used to work on 128, now I work in Silicon Valley. East Coast companies could take advantage of West Coast talent right now if they would just get over their need to have workers physically present. They will outsource a lot of work to kids overseas, but for some strange reason they don't trust their more experienced US workers to be out of the office more than once or twice a week and insist that they be on site. How can they develop software for an increasingly more mobile world, if they are resistant to even let their own teams take advantage of the technology?
