I agree with your idea ,It is for convenience .It doesn’t access your phone unless you type in your passcode ,I like this function .Onde Screen Capture for Mac can capture frame region, freehand region, one or all windows and full screen on Mac

You can access phone numbers, etc without putting in your lock code.

Why make it inaccessable by default? If I’m driving around and took a wrong turn, its much easier to ask siri and then type in my code to use maps then it is to type, then hold home, then tell siri. Accessability at the lockscreen is there for convenience and it doesn’t access your phone unless you type in your passcode.
