Immediately turned off by request for Vdio to access all my public Facebook data. Public or not I’m not ready to do a personal data dump just to see what something is about. Would not bet much on success of Vdio.

Video content licencing is a burdensome effort.

Vdio just doesn’t have the resources yet to be buying up all the things that matter, so they’ll either be doing sub-licencing of existing online businesses content rights, or equity-participation of the rights-holders like spotify has for online music/radio, but remember some of the studio participants in joost, though the team will have learnt from Rdio’s experiences in usability first.

VDIO has not raised the billions it needs to compete with them. Remember Netflix’s off balance sheet licencing costs over the next 18 months is projected to be over $1B. Without Hulu-like participation of the big studios and a major capital injection, VDIO will be destined to be another Joost.

Hype does not put dollars in the bank.
