Quantance is audience, judges’ pick for LaunchPad
At GigaOM’s Mobilize LaunchPad on Monday, 10 different startups presented in front of a panel of VCs and our discriminating audience. The companies showed innovative ideas from across the mobile spectrum, from chips to apps to mobile health devices.
The judges — Bob Abbott of Norwest Venture Partners, Tim Lee of Sequoia Capital, Jim Parsons of Silicon Valley Bank and Jack Sheridan of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati — and the audience agreed on the winner: Quantance. The semiconductor company makes a chip that boosts cell phone battery life by boosting the signal the phone delivers to the radio station.

Localmind
LocalMind CEO Lenny Rachitsky shows off the company's mobile app, which lets users ask simple questions to the people around them to find answers to things like how long the line at a local restaurant is. The company says it can now route each question to the people most likely to provide the best answer.
