Besides technological inferiority, there have not been any truly large customer deployments of Riak to date.

With Cassandra nearing 1.0, I just don’t see Riak catching up anytime soon. Riak was slightly behind in 2010 but with Cassandra continuing to innovate at breakneck speed throughout all of 2011, Riak is bound to fall by the wayside. Getting back to the article itself, this may sound ironic, but now may be the perfect time for Mr. Ripper to make a new move and jump ship before Riak loses all of its relevancy.

Ultimately, all (or at least most) of that data’s making its way to data centers, right? The thing about big data is that it comes from everywhere and databases, storage systems and analytics software have to be able to handle all of it.

So there is a LOT of duplication on the data. I agree that bigdata is the way forward, but maybe a graph which only shows the growth of data in data centers would be more appropriate?
